For a while now, I have felt a different pull. The old ‘Love and Light’ brigade doesn’t do it for me anymore. “All you need is love,” I absolutely believe this with all my heart, and we desperately need more of this.
We also need more healers, poets, story tellers, imaginal cells and dreamers. But…right now, we also need fierce warriors, invincible people who can hold the darkness within them so others can’t weald it. We need authenticity, unabashed realness, alongside enlightenment we need (maybe more desperately) enrealment. In 2012 I witnessed the end of time as we know it, I watched as the planet and all of us on it, slipped off the timeline, into timelessness. Things changed, didn’t they? Things are most definitely not the same anymore. I started my spiritual path as a pagan, a Wiccan, when I was very young, but even the pagan tenets and celebrations no longer inspire me. So, what am I with right now? What’s going on? I know from coversations with others that I am not alone. There is too much to discuss in this singular post, so I will focus on the cycles and seasons of our natural world. The pagan wheel of the year has never sat right with me. I have followed it blindly all my life but now I am deconstructing it. The 2020 lockdown triggered it. I followed the wheel and, living next to a wood, I noticed that all that was being posted about the different celebrations didn’t match what I was experiencing. Then, in the beginning of 2021, the wheel made even less sense. My despondency brings with it a sense of need for authenticity, integrity and congruency. I have recently acquired a diary for this year. I began by researching local ancient festivities and celebrations. I looked at local figures of interest. Near my neck of the woods is Weyland the Smithy, Herne the Hunter, and Dick Turpin. I researched about these characters and began to incorporate them into my celebrations and observances. I am also looking at the natural world around me. The other day, there was a storm of willow seeds that covered the whole land in its soft fluffy seeds, it was a Blessing of the Willows, this is now a sacred day that I look out for and observe. Collecting these seeds for blessing spells, and honouring the Willows. This is the change that is required of us, we are to co-create our own paths, walk our paths independently of recently made doctrines. Go and connect to YOUR land, where you live, and create these celebrations, watch the sun, the clouds and the trees, the flowers, animals and the bees, for they will tell you what to do. Who lived and worked in your area that could be of any service to your path? Who could you call upon to support you on your path? I noticed too, that the moons have all been named, in different countries there are different names for them, yet we are still using one of the other. There seems to be a mix of Angelo Saxon, Native American and Germanic, why is this? It doesn’t seem real or traditional. So, I have named the full moons myself, most of them have been taken from Saxon names, so I won’t go into this now, but I now have my own names that actually make sense to me and the world around me. I have however also named the dark moons. (when I say dark moon, I mean what is traditionally known as new moon. For me, a new moon is the first slither of light you see after the dark moon.) Full moons are sometimes a little overbearing to me. The dark moons are a time that I sit in stillness and connect with the spirits. The dark moon is the manifestation of the Dark One, the dark face of Goddess. It is the void, the womb and tomb. It is a shame these aren’t named, so I decided to name them. I backdated them to the beginning of this year, so you may see how these dark moons have manifested in your life. I have dated them with the month and a brief feeling of the moon, these may change each year, nothing should be static…each year is different, why should the celebrations and observances not change with them? I hope that they prove to be helpful for you. Using planetary alignments, seasonal common and cunning knowledge, I have named them as such.
